Visiting family in Anchorage.  Wondering how ice conditions typically are in late Feb/Early March time frame.  Especially Valdez area.  Also, what is best site to post for partners?  Thanks

Quite possible, usually. Places like Eklutna Canyon, Knik Glacier, Caribou Canyon, possibly Hunter Creek, etc are great. Valdez should be good for the most part. There's an Alaska Ice Climbing facebook page where us derelict/n'er-do-well ice climbers hang out and talk trash.

Valdez Ice Fest has been posing conditions on Instagram, looked like the classics were shaping up well

Typically that’s prime season!  But conditions haven’t been great in the Anchorage area recently. Still plenty of time for temps to drop again though. Rumor is Valdez has faired better, but not positive.

As for partners; the FB page Clint mentioned is probably your best bet, followed by here on MP, and if you’re really hard up for partners let me know.

Looking for partners Feb 15- march 1st. Homer/ Anchorage General areas I’ll be floating around. Flexible to some degree on locations and dates within those time frames.

You’ll have way better luck on Alaska ice climbing Facebook. Lots of partners to be had there

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
