I'm coming to Conway as a newish ice climber on the 14th to 17th of February. I've heard that routes like Parasol/Shoestring/Central Gully are great beginner "alpine" routes and would like to follow, or maybe try some leads up one of these. I'm already fairly experienced in multi-pitch trad climbing so I know the rope systems/belaying/knots.
Parasol first pitch is “thin-ish” compared to what it should be. Rest of climb is snow and fat ice and “parasol” up top. It’s two or three pitches depending on how you do it (guiding I do three personal two). Central in Huntingdon is 50’ of ice and mostly snow. Better understand the daily avy report. Shoe is in good shape and is covered by the avy report and again, know how to ascertain any concerns (it occasionally has avy issue but for the most part is relatively safe).
