I've been spending way too much time in front of a computer lately studying for exams, and have developed a pain in my right ring finger when bending it or crimping with it, and just a general stiffness and soreness in it and the two adjacent fingers. May be related to an increase in training volume over the past couple months but pretty sure it's from using my mouse as it's just the right hand, and more time on the computer irritates it.
Anyone else had this before? Treatments? What should I Google to get some more info on this? My last exam is today so I'll be spending less time using a mouse for the next while which will hopefully give it a chance to heal, but it's been irritating me for a few weeks now and I feel l should be doing something about it.
Don't have any advice on what to do about this now, but have you considered one of those weird kinda sideways ergonomic mice to prevent this in the future? I have one and it's dramatically more comfortable and I found that I don't get weird tweaks in my fingers anymore when I do a lot of work on the computer.
Here's a corded one to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.
Consider buying a separate touchpad to use for scrolling with your left hand. You can make swiping motions with two fingers, instead of endlessly scrolling the mousewheel with one finger. Is use both a mouse and a touchpad, to prevent issues (have had issues in the past as well). Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Learn to use a mouse with your other hand. It will feel weird for a couple days and then you'll get used to it. It's a handy skill to have and then you can switch back and forth.
