Hiya! I am traveling to J tree this time of year my crew is leaving a few days earlier than I. I am looking for folks to boulder with, and/or sport climb with. I can lead sport up to 5.10a/b or so. Happy to clean/belay on harder. I live locally in the Gunks and while I am used to following trad and leading in the 5.6/7 range, I am not super keen on agreeing to climb trad with a stranger but maybe after meeting and talking more we can see if that’s in the cards.

Hey Iliana, couple thoughts to hopefully help you out. Jtree doesn't have tons of sport climbing as you probably know, but there's a good bit of it at Indian Cove which is a few miles further past the usual entrance to Jtree proper.

If you have a rental car and really want to get in a full day of sport climbing, there's a spot called New Jack City that's a little over 1 hour from Jtree but that place has tons of sport routes and as close to zero approach as anywhere I've seen. For finding a sport climbing partner, you will likely have a much easier time finding one to meet at New Jack City vs. Jtree. It's totally possible to find a sport partner for jtree, but the vast majority of people are going there to trad climb or boulder.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
