What device are you using right now?

Click up

So many variables to consider. Are you unhappy with the click up? The best answer may be to try one and see what you think of it.

For what it's worth, I really like my vergo. Lead belaying and belaying from above are very smooth and you can use it as a trs device with some caveats.

If you don't like your click up, it's worth considering. Though, if lead belaying is your only concern, you may be better off with the neox.

I’m a Vergo fan, relative to the grigri, for lead belaying.  I also use it significantly for TRS, where it is also superior to the grigri.  I can’t speak to its advantages or disadvantages relative to the ClickUp.  Good luck and happy climbing regardless.

I’m a lefty; I like the Edelrid Jul 2 for lead belaying.

Takes a few belays to get used to it and the position of the stack of rope matters a lot. Once that’s taken care of it’s my favorite device to lead belay with. Giving out slack is almost effortless. I also like the click up family of devices and the “auto tube” style like the mammut smart. I only use the grigri to lead belay if my partner has one and is going to go bolt to bolt, because the transition from taking to belaying back and forth is the most seamless.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
