Ignorant question here, but are these temps typical for The Valley this time of year? Seems pretty warm and dry. Was hoping to possibly swing a short trip out there in Dec or early Jan. but had written it off until I peeped the weather. I'm sure things can go downhill fast but am hoping this is an unusually warm/dry season? Thx.
Since no one is answering, I’ll give my answer. There is no particular predictability of northern california weather for the season. SF area just recently had the most rainfall in 24 hrs that had been recorded in 123 years. Storms roll in from the pacific. The path can trend north, middle or less frequently south. You’ll have some idea of weather about 10 days in advance. This is based on having lived in SF for 30 years.

Thanks! Thats about what I was expecting someone to say.
Seems like one could get lucky in December or January with some good weather but it'd be hard to plan for too far out.
Winter in Yosemite is grand. Ski out to Glacier Point and camp . Tuolumne Meadows is sublime and a great ski-trek from Mammoth Lakes to the Valley and Lee Vining .
