I'll make do with our Whole Foods dinner

LOL Wendy, I'm doing the same thing. I've never done that but I have house guests and no interest in cooking. Heating up the pre-cooked turkey and stuffing in the oven! And zapping all the side dishes.

I'm more or less food-minus these days.  To me it's all fuel, and stuff that goes with the wine when needed to enhance the wine experience.  For example sometimes I'm in the mood for a big red and then we'll have beef filet to accompany it!  (Like Ward, my everyday diet consists of mostly protein and vegetables.)

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.

Wendy.... I'm hardly discriminating. It could just as well been me and Mr or Ms Stouffer today. I do that way too often.

Bob, I like to look at Pomerelle (which is quite close to City of Rocks but much higher elevation) now and then, since it can be one of those with over 100 inches. They're not open yet, looks like. By contrast, Mount Bachelor (also near destination climbing, lol) has that coveted shit ton of snow. 54 inch base, 120" season. I don't ski, but I am a lifelong Westerner.....and know the huge importance of snowpack. That used to also directly impact me, as that snowpack was my irrigation water. Low water year, short irrigation season, simple as that.

Then there's fire seasons.....

Hey Carl! How's your season going???

H.

Edit to add: Drat. Looks like I need to go get lemon juice if I want that artichoke. Go back out today ....or, geez, on black Friday?? Argh.....

Lori, you still got that indoor farm tower thing going??

Edit edit edit, just for grins....screenshot for climbing weather, lol

Hello. My name is Brandt, and I'm a carboholic.

Looking forward to stuffing myself with dressing, mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, and various pies later today.

No wonder I'm 15 pounds overweight.

Lori - I'll post a photo of our turkey substitute when it's done.

My 85 year old mother and 13 year old daughter acting 13.  Brandt, I’m going way off the rails and having creamed onions and brussel sprouts.  The pies and potatoes, that’s a line that I can’t cross, lol.

Jesus Ward. It's Just one day.  The way you train and all that discipline you should have no problem getting back on the wagon ;)

Honestly I have no desire to eat pie.  I could, sure, but it holds no appeal whatsoever.   Sounds crazy but that is where I am.  My daughter made me a birthday cake a couple of years ago and I did eat some, for obvious reasons, but it was no big treat.

Wet trip to Index but wet means green. Good beer drinking weather, anyway. Thankful for the beauty of this planet, but after 3 years in the Arctic, I’m especially grateful for trees. Back in Barrow for a couple of weeks. Next chapter will start in January in either Fairbanks or Sitka and will definitely have trees as main characters. Hope everyone is warm and well-fed!

Chukchi Sea ice back in, sparkling under the midday dark…

So, come January, will you then be Les Colden Dark?

Although I had pie tonight I also did a few laps on the climbing wall between dinner and pie. Usually I'm with you on the lack of desire for sweets, I  think it's my bodies way of telling me to save the sugar servings for some yummy beers instead. The thought of packing myself full of pie makes me ill...

My half dozen or so Russian friends have never said a good thing about Putin, they are all on Ukraine's side and that says something to me.

Hey Helen! You’re back!

I’ve got Covid and I’m whiny and sad.
Cindy is asking if all the plaintive, whimpering noises I’m making while lying on the lounge watching Netflix help. I said yes, just like with climbing.

I think we should all agree that most wars are just people being, well, YOU know….

Li Hu: "Most Western nationals, myself included, don't really understand all the issues there".

Your posts on this topic make the 'myself included' part abundantly clear. If you really wish to "correct misinformation" then you should stop spreading it.

Montefiore, Simon Sebag (2005). Potemkin: Catherine the Great's Imperial Partner.

Just to push back the references a smidge.

My daughter made us all pies to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Gym was closed yesterday, need more calorie deficit today. Gained significant weight yesterday through three heavy meals.

Doing a bunch of LeetCode problems, just to see if I can make myself useful for a bit longer. Starting a new career, and preparing a demonstration for CES.

Dkoyote, I’m advocating USA to not start any more hot wars. I’m getting sick of these stupid wars which are destroying the world economy and making things worse for the people they were intended to help. I don’t want my children and grandchildren to live through what I had to. It’s sick and stupid.

We should be more worried about how to solve world poverty and fix our environment.

I wanted to throw this out and see if anyone has a thought – – I’ve been having ongoing stomach issues now for a number of months. I know it’s nothing serious but it’s frustrating. Does anyone have a sensitivity to Stevia? It just seems to be in everything, including my protein powder, my NUUN tabs, Even greens mixes. I know it is “natural“ but I also know there are things that can really mess up the microbiome.

I think I’ve heard about this anecdotally, but before I go to all the hassle of purging my kitchen of all Stevia, I just like to make sure it’s worth the bother.

USA did Not start the war in Ukrain. we ain't saints by any stretch of the imagination but we did Not invade Ukraine in 2014 or 2022.   If you want to put the blame on the US for that put it where it belongs. Trump  gave  Putin the green light and drastically weakened Nato. Putin was genuinely surprised when the west   reacted so strongly. All the signals he had from the previous administration were its no big deal have at it.

Lori, I have no experience with Stevia, but before you throw out a lot of stuff, why not try not consuming any for a while and see if you notice a difference?

This may be true?

Apples have cyanide and mangoes have stuff in the skin, so not every natural  thing is good for you.

Not sure?

On another note, I just watched this:

Should cheer you up a bit.

Answer the question: what is different about the US defending Tiawan from a Chinese invasion vs Ukraine from a Russian one?

Explicitly answering your question cause you don’t seem to understand what I’m stating.

USA isn’t defending anyone, and should stay the hell out of other people’s business, cause without any exceptions has failed at helping the people in question. It helped further USA imperialism, but not the people being “saved”.

As I sit here in easy chair with covid and the computer on my lap, just kind of feel like joining in.   Don't want to get involved with political discourse on the internet, except to say we will see which ideology works out better for the American people.  Four years of GOP rule ought to show us... or not.

The climbing season here is hit or miss, now  but I am sure I will get out soon.  The gym is 35 minutes away and I much prefer outdoors.  Ice climbing season is staring to happen though.

Just wanted to put something out there, not sure why.  Thanks for entertaining me on a day spent doing nothing and a big hello to all of you.

Hi Nick. Rollinsville is a great base for backcountry skiing.

Yep... I get out pretty often once all rocks are covered up, soon very soon.

Dreaming of going to Cochise Stronghold.
