I’m going to be in Knoxville next week for the holiday and could use some crag recommendations for the Obed. I’m looking for places with an easy/short approach and stuff in the 5.10-5.12b range. Bonus points for easier climbs (below 5.9) for my fiancé.

The short approach would be to Lilly Bluff. Notable routes there are Heresy,  Tarantella, Lounge Lizard, Yakuza, Gangsta, Ticks are for Kids. Ticks would probably be the most approachable route for someone that is climbing in the 5.9 range there is also Rocking Chair at 5.9-. Enjoy the area!

Second best approach...actually maybe even shorter than lily Bluff is inner circle at north clear. It misses the bonus of routes for your fiancé but the four main/tallest routes are not to be missed. At lily bluff wheatward bound is very nice too

+1 for Lily but you might hate it with the weather that's coming our way.

Tieranny is the winter crag & has a roof cap so it'll stay dry in the rain but it's a longer approach & harder routes.

N clear has a shortish approach, a mix of grades, and a few routes that stay dry in the rain. And less people. Good trad routes too.

Appreciate these insights. Let’s hope that rain for thanksgiving day doesn’t extend to the weekend

Lingerie and barbed wire is phenomenal. More of a pump struggle than any specific hard as nails crux from what I remember. I haven't done Saddam Hussein but it looks tits.

It doesn’t look like the weather is gonna be much fun (was planning on climbing next Sat or Sun). If anyone wants to climb at Onsight in west Knoxville either of those days lemme know!

You can climb at obed in the rain. Stuff at Inner circle stays dry. Saddam Hussein stays dry at N clear. Most of Tierrany stays dry. Definitely worth trying to climb.

Also, hit me up in Boulder if you need a partner.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
