Pole for Clip Stick?

Jeremiah Whitewrote: FYI (at least according to someone on mountain project) metolius acquired the mountain drifter skyhook design. So the skyhook will no longer be available but they are now metolius branded. Makes sense as they alpear identical |

Pongoose is objectively the best. Pricey though. |

Jeremiah Whitewrote: I bought a metolius stick clip this year and it appears identical to the skyhook one - works super well too. |

I think Amazon is the way to go for the stick, several very inexpensive options. |

This one works pretty well in the place like New and Smith Rock. |

Extend a reach |

Noah Betzwrote: 46 + shipping isn't too bad, but that thing looks a tad flimsy. extend-a-reach.com/products… |

Jeremiah Whitewrote: It’s very durable, I have the 7 foot - 4 segment model and even at max extension it’s still usable. With only 1 or 2 segments ~75% extended it’s extremely rigid. I live in the land of stick clipping (RRG) so I’ve seen everything there is, the extend a reach is as good as it gets |

I’m be got the longer Pongoose one. It’s fantastic. Was skeptical about the twist lock, but it’s worked flawlessly, locks tight and is sturdy enough to extend to 5 feet and use as a walking stick. |

Tyler Mwrote: Second this. The new Basic Stick Clip extends to 12ft and crucially is only 29" with the Superclip unscrewed, which makes it short enough to travel with in checked luggage. This is the number one reason I bought it. The Pongoose is great but the short is shorter than the Basic (at 9ft) and the long is too long to travel with. The only other travel-short stick clip is the Trango, which is a piece of junk in comparison. |

I recently lost my long stick clip and had to improvise for a few weeks: two voile straps work great to anchor a short stick clip to some other item (actual stick, folding ski pole, etc). I did replace the long one for convenience at my local crags but I’m thinking that for travel or long/tricky approaches I will just use the straps. |
