Alaska - How busy is it these days

Thinking about climbing ice at The Mooses Tooth and rock at Little Switzerland this spring. It looks like every guide company in North America guides trips there now.

Just how busy are these routes now? Any experiances to share from 2024 and how crowded things were?

Generally speaking, yes, this adds more traffic, but I think distinctly different from guided teams on the WB. Last year there were a total of 7-teams on the Root Canal; 2-3 on the Ruth. About half were guided, half were private. There was no apparent friction. That being said, it did require some coordination. Teams would typically end up socializing most evenings, determine objectives, figure out a game-plan (staggering), and then launch the next day. Case-and-point, I believe there were 3-teams on Ham & Eggs at on point, with a fair amount of distance between. The gap did close over time, but from a far, didn't seem to pose any issues. On our own climbing day, we caught a team, exchanged pleasantries and continued onwards. Really nothing to be said. One of the guided teams did put in pickets for the season [above the col, around the cornice], which was appreciated. I imagine they will do the same.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
