0527Carabiner!

They were common in California in the 70’s, anyone know who manufactured them. I tried Google and couldn’t even bring up a photo of them. The 3 pair in my post belong to me and I don’t see any markings on them.

I believe the brand is "Jumar". This page (LINK) shows various iterations of the grey Jumars.

JUMAR (Swiss). If there is anyone in the climbing industry that truly deserves the credit for introducing the “cam concept” to the climbing community, I think it would most likely be the originators of the Jumar rope ascender, the Swiss Mountain Guide Adolf Jüsy and engineer Walter Marti, in 1958! Patent CH 362 351, Walter Marti, 14 July 1962. The very first use of a spring loaded cam for climbing gear.

The name Jümar is a combination of the names of the the two inventors Adolf Jüsy and Walter Marti.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
