Crack ticklist SLC area
|
Hey there! I just moved to SLC from Europe and have very little experience on cracks, but I am very keen of getting into it. I followed a friend up Hatchet crack in LCC, which was miserable but also a lot of fun! So I was wondering, if you had recommendations for me on what cracks to do in the area! What are the must do and classic cracks for me to add to my to do list? Thanks in advance! |

I moved further away from SLC around 3 years ago so I'm probably missing a bunch but this will get you started. Here are some good ones from memory - a lot of these are classics, but sometimes a route is a classic for a reason. Almost all of these are in LCC but I put in a few from Rock Canyon down near Provo and one from BCC. They are listed in order from easier to harder (roughly). Squeeze my lemon/zesty, bushwhack crack, callitwhatyouplease, green monster, plumbline, hand jive, the coffin, sasquatch, green adjective pitch 1, lowe blow, the flakes and its variations, goodro's wall, green monster aid crack, bongeater (never actually sent this one - woof), burner, tick fever, coyne crack, |

There's this place called the Cookie Cliff. Good crack climbing there. It's 10 hours away though. Bit of a drive for a weekend. Fortunately there's, The Gargoyle, and it is most likely the best pure crack in LCC. It's not a pleasant approach and definitely a step up from anything on the above list. So work on your game then head up there and fire it. Grrrr |

Thanks a lot, I will check as much of that stuff out as possible! |

Can’t believe I forgot Gargoyle. Tom is right, it’s a beautiful route. Much harder than Coyne crack. Also put pitch 1 of boomerang on your list and I would even say hangman which is right next to that (isn’t a crack for the whole thing) but has a good hand crack start. |
