Has anyone ordered from Oliunid.com to Canada?

Hi everyone,

I recently discovered Oliunid.com and they have almost everything I’m looking to purchase at prices which are better than local to Calgary, Alberta (as well as a few items I can’t find here at all).   My concern is they are not able to tell me if there will be customs duties in addition to the prices I see online.

Does anyone have experience with this site?  Were you charged customs duties?   Have you had better success with Shop.EpicTV.com or Bananafingers.co.uk?

thanks,

- C

Oliunid is a legit Italian store. I've ordered from them before, although not to Canada or the US. For customs you need to consult Canadian tariff rules.

I’ve bought stuff from the UK, and I thought generally you just have to pay the GST for whatever province you’re in. So 5% for Alberta? It might not apply under certain price thresholds but I’m not sure.

Make sure you self clear your items so you don’t get screwed with brokerage fees, which can be 3X the actual customs fee.

EU =>Canada tariffs are duty-free if made in EU and tax-free if under $200 & made in EU.

I bought a pair of Katanas from Trekinn.com and they came in tax & duty free. Didn't have my size in Canada.

You could also use Royal mail (which is handled by Canada Post once it lands) which is only $10 handling fee and avoids the self clear if its not convenient...

I ordered >$200 worth of petzl gear from epictv recently and was only charged the handling fee and taxes

Could you please explain how to do ‘self clear’?

- thank you

Ordered a rope from them two years ago, no problems. Stayed within EU boundaries though.

UPS charges crazy fees for paying customs on your behalf. I'm not sure if this will apply for other carriers, but if you are asked to pay your customs fee in advance, just check before agreeing, you may be charged a huge brokerage fee. It's easy to do, you'll need to go to a CBSA office to get your forms stamped and pay the duty, and then you can avoid the fee. Perhaps not always worth it, but if they try to charge you $100, it's probably worth your time.

Wow this is so helpful. Ive paid these broker fees mutiple times from Trekinn and other websites. Thanks for the info!

@Stever: Just to be clear, buying from epictv and shipping to van was the list price (converted from USD) +tax+shipping+$10 handling when using royal mail?

The Canary on EpicTV is calling my name...

Epictv: Canadian $ as shown on their website (USD currency only allowed when shipping to United States, as per checkout) and shipping (Royal mail always has a charge, DHL is free over $230 I think)

Canada post: taxes on amount, $10 handling, duty if you get unlucky

DHL: taxes on amount, ~$30 handling fee, duty if you get unlucky

I don't believe I have been charged duty, but I can't remember exactly...

I bought the canary from Epictv and saved a huge amount overall compared to local prices

ever since EpicTV swapped from using Collisimo (sp?) sometime last year I've been hit with duty. I think the couple times I ordered I used DHL, but I basically gave up and thought it wasn't worth it anymore.

Anyone else importedclimbing shoes from Oliunid.com or EpicTV to Canada? Interested to see if there will be duty charged. Seems like a tariff of 20% +GST (in Alberta) would apply

Yes. Received the item mentioned with shipping charges only. No mention of Custom Fees to U.S. address. (California). I was wondering if somehow ordering directly from Edelrid would have been a better option ? Shipped within 2 weeks or so.

Yes from both and if you can use their Country carrier (I.e. Royal Mail) it will go to Canada post once it lands here and overall it will be cheaper. If DHL gets it, their fees are higher.

last time I only paid taxes +$10 handling fee from Canada Post

In the end I ordered from EpicTV. Only shipping option was DHL.  Worked out fine, DHL only charged me GST on the purchases + a $18 service fee, which I think is a fixed cost.

Have purchased numerous times only charged small brokerage fees and GST and PST.  One of those always shows on the duties line.  Think total cost of shipping will depend on weight.  One of my purchase which was around $900 included a rope so shipping was more and still didn't get duty charges.

Too bad you cannot get petzl anymore

Just bought ice tools and a helmet from them. The billing looked great and may have saved the 11% sales tax in CA. I’ll let you know once I’ve gotten them how much is billed. Had to change the ship to address and they responded very quickly. Liking what I’ve seen so far.

I just did

Sleeping pad, i really dont appreciate my first experience

116$ on their web site (i don't really know what that means

25$ handel

23$ gps

17 broker fees

Total 158$

But they took on my credit card 195,99$

43.28 from ups at my door

I wrote them to understand the difference betwee  my bill and my credit card

They told me i was ordered from spa vinencia??

I don't get what ot means but, i won't buy from them anymore. If I knew I took from my local store à 175$ instead of from them total at 250$
