Most living route developers (myself included) have zero issue changing route names if they are deemed by the community to possibly be offensive.  For non-living route developers, that piece of culture becomes community property in essence, and we have to decide what to do.   It only seems to be people like yourself who worry about the possibility of something being lost or "canceled" and seem more interested in raising a fuss over nothing.   Go climb a rock and quit worrying about it.   What's the worst that can happen, we do better?  Changing a route name doesn't affect your experience whatsoever (if you think it does, you should analyze that), but it might (positively) affect the experience of someone else, so why do you care?
