For Rab Batura owners- can you share your experience and applications of the Rab Batura, ideally older versions (ie RAB-QDE-12-LA)?

Thanks!!

My brother had one that he got for walking the dog, leaked after a few years, I had a look at it and saw pretty considerable wear considering its use. I was also surprised by the lack of loft in the jacket, not exactly a burly expedition jacket.

Be aware that the best mountaineering down jacket are often optimized to be as light and compressible as possible which involves expensive or fragile materials which may not be a very high value for your use.

If only this jacket was that, it's not got a bunch of insulation in it, probably marginally more fill than your standard micro baffle and a drop shell over the top. Pretty thick and heavy materials.

Update: so I went ahead and bought the coat. Its enormous! Its and XL and 3 lbs, full of 850 fill  and a protective shell. Feels like a thick warm cloud when you put it on. I would say it is comparable in fill to the Mountain Hardware Absolute Zero, also an amazing coat, but this one's price is better, though with less features (no pit zips sadly). So far so good, can't wait for some proper conditions this winter to do a thorough test

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
