Shoes: BD Aspect, Aspect Pro

Anyone got any significant experience with these shoes? Crackin' (0.75/#2/OW)? Edgin'? Smearin'? Comparison to other more well-known shoes? |

Aspect: I’ve gone through about seven pairs, been my favorite pair of try-hard-ish shoes for the last six or seven years, especially on steep edges. Great edging, good in cracks, great on slabs, comfy, rubber is good. Highly recommend at the price (especially on sale) if you’re stoked to climb 5.10, they begin to lose their usefulness in the 11 range (but that’s not what these are for). Aspect Pro: I like them wayyy more than TCs, softer (better in cracks), more downturn, narrower toe for thinner cracks, really well made shoe, I even like the rubber better. An odd detail: The laces on these are bomber/really cool. TLDR: I feel like I’m the only person ever wearing BD shoes outside … it makes me feel kinda crazy how much I’ve liked their shoes. :) |

I have had 2 pairs of the aspect pros that I got on pro deal and I have no plan to switch, incredibly comfortable (all day easy) and super performant enough for my needs, they really killed it with the laces, they have a sort of ratcheting property to them and it works great. they are also really easy on the Achilles. Overall all I would totally recommend them. To answer you question they work great for all sizes form .5 to 3 and I cant speak to OW since I avoid it like the plague. |

I've probably gone through 4 pairs of Aspects and love them. They edge really well and are all-day comfortable. I recently got a pair of Aspect Pros and really like them as well, both are solid shoes. |

Patrikwrote: Aspect Pros are really good shoes. Thin enough profile to be great in 0.75, stiff enough to be comfy in #2, and can still run quick enough to avoid OW. |

Patrikwrote: ~7 pairs in 7 years is not a durability issue. |

How does the sizing compare to the TC Pros (old style)? |
|

I suppose you could call it durability, but I like my shoes tight, they stretch throughout the year, and, again, when you get a pair of them on sale at $115-ish, an $80 resole for what’s now a sloppy shoe after a year of heavy use isn’t worth it for me/that’s a good season. I stand by it. :) |

My aspect experience was achilles pain, but good for crackin and edgin. No good for smearin |

My size 10 Aspect Pros fit similarly to 42.5 TCs (maybe a little closer to 42). |

Beta on stretch / size for Aspect vs Pro? |

Matt Nwrote: Nearly identical. |

aspects are definitely a stiffish edging shoe, aspect pro's are smeary good shoes - more smedgers than edgers. |

Casey Jwrote: I have the aspects and its the stiffest shoe i've used (more than miura vs / katana lace / friend's TC pros) . Really good for standing on edges but can't smear worth a damn. Might get the Aspect Pros if they're not as board-feeling. |

Andy Rwrote: While the general shape is very similar, they couldn't be more different in that regard. Aspect pro's are very pliable and softer than TC's, with a love of smearing. |
