Just wanted to get that in before we perhaps get locked again!

Thanks, Bruno.  Never better said or more appreciated.

interesting.  Thread was redacted and locked for a bit.  Now we’re apparently “back on the air”

Ha ha - just goes to show, no one is perfect.  :)

Basically, yeah.

This isn’t just about one person’s ban? It’s about how far we can push the envelope before being banned, more importantly, how not to get banned.

As far as I can tell, Trad and Russ didn’t exactly go overboard here, but possibly due to content on other sites added to the negativity they brought here?

As an “outsider”, climbing in the 1970s sucked big time. Brainless bastards giving you crap, people chopping holds or bolts? It was a really bad climate with tons of hateful self centred individuals.

Climbing is a positive sport. It’s a sport now, not an adventurous “this may be the last thing you do” sort of thing any more. It’s an Olympic sport with a bunch of potential to grow past many other activities.

Being inclusive and helpful helps the sport.

Mods are too lazy to ban people. Pretty sure it has something to do with number of Flags associated with an account.

I'm only on 15 years. Pales to your greatness. Still, your opinions are not that informed.

What's there to be informed about? Do I need to read that guy's garbage for another decade? I hardly think so. Also, He Who Is Actually Tradiban could theoretically start an account here and be just like any one of you and post his honest opinions and jokes about stuff, but I really don't think there would be anything in it for him. He just isn't interested in relating to the forum like that.

I don't think climbing needs help. And climbing is still very much an "adventurous sort of thing."

It can be both. You certainly can’t argue it’s not a sport, but I don’t think that’s necessarily the point. At least, comparatively, it’s certainly not adventurous as it used to be. Especially when compared to 20-30 years ago. What percentage of climbing are going to a crag and climbing on bolts someone else drilled? Now compare that number to 20-30 years ago.

I've been reading your garbage longer than tradies contributions. Tim, your garbage stinks. All the way back to the early days, on other forums, your garbage has always been garbage.  But that's OK. I am able to filter your worth without any technology. I just use my free will. Your posts are garbage, but I would never want to silence your shit...

And still, to this day I have no idea who x15x15 is or what you think and frankly, I see no reason to get into it any further than that.

Glad I wasn't paying too much for the rent in your head.

Well, one thing this thread has taught me is that some people really take their MP seriously!

I can honestly say that I am glad that I have never used the ignore button.  Even those that I tend to disagree with most over the years sometimes post up something insightful and worthy of hitting the “like” button on.   It ain’t nothin but a thing to skim over a post I don’t need to read.  My mind has a built in “ignore” feature (just ask my girlfriend when she’s talking to me about chores that need to be done)

And really Mark, I was the same way. But there's a first time for everything.

And believe me, I have greatly enjoyed our Wild West periods here on this forum, however brief they were and how far in the past they must have been. Man, there was that time when it seemed like everyone's posts were getting heavily edited by mods, for almost any reason. Are they still doing daily thread post limits? I guess I don't hit that anymore.

Anyway, I don't think it's about people taking this place too seriously. highaltitudeflatulence explained it more succinctly than anyone else did.

When things are explained so succinctly by highaltitudeflatulence why even bother posting ever again?

Maybe Mike Hunt can add something else to the pot here?

... everyone vying for their point in this thread - well, some.  Me too.  Strong work, Mark. :)

I’m just waiting for a new Tradi account to be created and him to drop in with an epic one liner.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
