I'm almost finished Beyond The Mountain by Steve House. Amazing book for anyone who hasn't read it yet, and his Enormocast episode is a great add on to the book, and one of my favourite Enormos.

Right now? Dreck, don't want to talk about it.

Lately ok: Power of the Dog, drug wars Latin America, pretty good enough.

Matterhorn, Nam era, boonie crashing, engaging.

Enjoyed Murderbot and Slow Horses, series fun. Nothing top 100 of late.

Oh yeah. Did like Stallion's Gate. Oppie before Oppie was cool.

The ultimate Florida man series, Florida Roadkill by Tim Dorsey which is the first of around 20 novels. If you have read any Carl Hiassen you will definitely like Dorsey. The main character is a vigilante sociopath,  his partner is a full time stoner, it's fast and entertaining

In between books... but looking at The 3 Body Problem series.  The netflix series is pretty good.

I have read Kitchen Confidential was good. Just finished Streets of Laredo (sequel to Lonesome Dove). Liked The Berrybender series better for McMurtry sp? Minutes ago finished The Trees by Conrad Richter. Very good Americana. Don’t think I was able to engage with Three Body Problem. If you want a Netflix familiar try Queens Gambit. Wow quite the tension!

The Decameron, by Boccaccio, in translation. Baudy Italian stories in a frame narrative. Pretty good for a classic. The movie The Little Hours is an adaptation of one of the tales in the book. Not my usual fare. I’m with many of the others here- I go for sci fi mostly.

Just finished A Scanner Darkly, which I enjoyed. So far, all of the Philip K Dick books I've read have left me feeling a little perplexed, but it's nice that way.

Now I'm starting A River Runs Through It. I haven't read much or any Americana, so I'm excited to see if I like the style.

You might like "the solace of open spaces" for more Americana.

Just finished "The Wager" by David Grann. Excellent story of an 18th century British naval mission gone wrong!

Nothing Venture, Nothing Win, by Ed Hillary. Climbing stories of the ‘30s-‘50s are so adventurous.

I've been reading The Common Good by Robert Reich a bit, if you follow him on social media or have read his columns you know exactly what it's about.

Also the Randy Wayne White series for mindless entertainment

A local radio station played Jeremy Irons reading of the book which my son loved and shortly after I bought a copy for us to read together. Definitely a classic.

Kitchen Confidential was enjoyable and a good genre break from my usual sci-fi.

Slaughterhouse Five went way over my head. I found parts of it funny, and parts of it where I was too lost to get much from it.

Somehow I've made it this far without reading 1984, so that's where I'm headed now (~70 pages in)

I have read it several times and I believe this to be the idea. Are you as lost as Billy Pilgram? Maybe it’s a glimpse into what it’s like to be him, unstuck in time.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
