Another Day on Solar Slab: How not to Interact with Your Fellow Climber

Mark Pilatewrote: I'm not sure. I only remember that she coerced her boyfriend into trying to commit suicide then when he was in the hospital stole all his stuff and fled. It wasn't until this thread brought her up that I remembered her at all. |

Kind of reminds me of every time I bitch about crowds when I let someone talk me into going to Whippoorwill in October in WV. That experience is definitely a bummer, but I expect it now, and have for almost the last decade. Definitely since about 2015 or so. Now, if I want to have a chill day with a wealth of options, I walk further and look for more obscure routes, or try to climb harder. Well, 2 out of 3 isn't bad heh. Sucks that it is this way, but it DEFINITELY IS THIS WAY now. Not trying to dissuade anyone from griping about bad experiences, we're all human, and it's definitely mainstream now. |

Who the fuck is the brittle spirit that reported this and had it removed? highaltitudeflatulentexpulsion wrote: The dumbass who points out that the obvious troll is a troll is way more annoying than the actual obvious troll.

Was it misogyny that drove her away? Notice how the male-like trolls are practically embraced on this site, one female troll and OMG LET'S GIT HER BOYS! Maybe she is the flagger? |

M Mwrote: I think it was her run in with the law that stopped her posting? |

Y’alls speculation is misogynistic in and of itself. |

Your speculative comment on our speculation is misogynistic. |

Sounds like white supremacy to me. |

Jonathan Walker wrote: Of the posts I’ve seen removed, this one didn’t seem to be among the worst (though, while no names were used, it wouldn’t take a huge jump to conclude it’s in response to the comment two posts above it). Somewhat ironically, the speech that was removed was a complaint about the type of speech the poster is annoyed by. I wouldn’t equate removing a post that goes against the only rule on the forum with cancel culture. |

I can’t remember the obvious troll post. I do remember the response “troll, yawn”. Like it’s 2003, I’ve got Kazaa working cause Napster shut down and I can’t tell what a troll is, so I need someone to point it out to me. Let’s call him yawn-e. He’s probably the type on a drive to point out every time he sees a cow. Yawn-e looks up at a perfect handcrack and says “I bet it takes a lot of golds”. Yawn-e also loves Chuck Norris facts and Hamster Dance. Edgy. |

FrankPSwrote: Great. Now we have people spraying about knowing guides. LOL! It’s funny how differently people read the OP. I read it that some guy tried to steam roll into a simul climb he wasn’t actually up for. I read it like the OP saying, hey, maybe instead of getting trapped in a bubble of tension, have an actual conversation, maybe you’ll learn a lot more. The other day my partner and I were warming up on a truly random single pitch climb at a crag with 130 or more routes when the only other party we saw that day came and set up right at the base of the climb we were on. Silently, I thought “WTF?”, I would never do that in their situation, but, unlike us, I guess they’d been planning on getting on the climb. We made a little idle chit chat with them, finished the climb and moved on. I can only imagine if they’d brought the vibes the OP talked about, I’d probably handle it less affably. |
