Astro Dog, p1 variant.

Now I gotta find something…

Ok I’ll see your finger crack and raise you one:

Spoiler edit:

The rope is on?

Not at Lizard Wall. Limestone, not sandstone, and completely different state/region.

Elevator door at lizard wall?

It's either Fullphilment or Land Phil on the Anti-Phil Wall at Rifle Mtn Park—pretty sure it's Fullphilment, but hard to tell with the lateral distortion.

Phullphilment it is

Nice choice for a guessable Rifle obscurity. Those dusty, polished routes mostly only see traffic in the cold shoulder seasons when people need sunny warmups that aren't dripping water.

Here's the new photo to guess:

Since it's been several hours with no guesses, I'll start giving hints:

• The climber is on a shared start that accesses more than one area classic. Any of those routes will be acceptable answers.

Strangely enough, it’s my wife’s favorite Rifle route :-)

• The FA names affiliated with these routes include Mike Benge, Alison Osius, Hermann Gollner, Lou Dawson and Steve Shea.

From the picture and 'cast of characters' listed, I'm guessing something at Independence Pass, but have no idea of either the routes or the specific formation---and too lazy to do the necessary research!!!

The Zebra?

Derek F · · Carbondale, CO · Joined Jun 2007 · Points: 406

Yup! Zebra is correct, and the middle of the three routes accessed by the shared start. I also would've accepted Might As Well Jump or the more obscure (and original) trad line Mind Parasite.

You're up, Aaron

Specifically the route up the dark streak in the shade with chalk, but there are another two routes obscured by the tree that you could name as well. In a guidebook there's actually a photo of Jonathan Siegrest climbing this route although it's not very hard.

Since no one's guessing, I'll keep the game moving along—the route in question is I'll Be Black. The OW start of the Avenger is to the right. I love this crag, but damn, the staging area on the steep slope is not the most comfortable hang. The sacrifices we make for our pleasures, eh?

To mix things up a bit, here's a beta map I made for a mini-proj that I still need to return to; the problem is that it's kinda far away from me, especially in the winter when passes are closed, and winter is the season to climb it if you're serious about sending:

I won't be around much to respond to guesses after today, so here's more hints:

• The area where this crag is located is much more of a whitewater paddling destination than a climbing one.

• The route in the photo is not on Mountain Project, but the crag is, so I will accept the name of the crag. (In fact, I ripped this photo off of the webpage for the area to make my map.)

Elephant Rock in BV

Bingo. You're up, Rob.

Edit to add: The name of the route, according to Stewart M. Green's Rock Climbing Colorado guidebook from the 1990s, is In Fear of Fear, 13a/b. Maybe my map will help someone flash it.
