Who's your favorite crossover athlete?

I was thinking about a lot of climbers on my social media/friend group who often do the climbing thing for a while, then pivot to something different for a short or long stint, and do well there too.  Distance running is a common one I see for climbers, for some reason.

Do you have a favorite athlete that's crossed over from climbing, either permanently or otherwise, and has done well in another niche athletic pursuit?

For my money (and I was surprised to discover this) Mr. Adventure moving from climbing to boxing is an exciting and natural crossover.  Is there anything he's not good at?

Isn't this guy supposed to be under indictment for poaching?

Is this the Brother of Lindsey Hamm? She's super fucking cool.

Free solo trad, killing bears in the Yukon and now boxing.
Truly a man of all sport.

Hamm’s quite the talent, I’ve heard he’s taken down a few heavyweights already!

It’s like Hemingway said, “There are only three sports: illegal bear hunting, posting to the gram, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games.”

No relation.   But he might be related to Lindsey Graham.   She’s not as cool.

….but likely a crossover.   Of some kind.

Here's a hot take for MP.

Actual outdoor parkour is more trad than trad climbing.

Compare, people sprad dogging their way up an Indian Creek splitter with crack gloves and a colour coded rack of brand new Camelots pre racked in order.

Vesus, the Storror boys deliberately stranding themselves in an empty water reservoir, then using combined tactics to propel Toby Segar on top of a human pyramid to a disintegrating brick edge, so he can free solo the rest of the way out in sandshoes, trailing a crappy piece of hardware store rope so the others can hand over hand up behind him with no belay.

Mike Law raced motorcycles.

Glen Robbins raced BMX.

"I always thought he could have been a good climber, but he spent too much time racing BMX. Funnily enough I talked to some BMX riders, and they said he could have been a good racer, but spent too much time climbing"

I feel like free solo trad is an oxymoron

If by "crossover" you also mean "cross-dressing," then everyone's favorite athlete has to be Adam Burch.

Adam Burch for his online prowess. Stuff the guy has posted is top notch comedy gold.

If we're looking back to the old school:

Royal Robbins pivoted from climbing to kayaking, and made major contributions there.

Ray Jardine pivoted from climbing to thru hiking, and revolutionized ultralight backpacking.

I have heard Segar talk about their pov videos that they became so popular from basically saying they look super dangerous, but they're testing everything before hand and sort of choregraphing so that when they do the line they already know what they're doing and have practiced the moves. I'm not super into parkour but from what I've seen there isn't a whole lot of flowing through unknown terrain and taking blind jumps. It's closer to skateboarding where the focus is on an individual move or a line but you try over and over or different moves at an already established spot. Obviously this is a different format from those pov videos, but I wouldn't be surprised if the spot had already been scouted by them. It's also possible it has been scouted by someone not participating so that it is genuinely new to everyone in the video, but generally I would say parkour is actually pretty similar to having your cams in order already and a lot of the time closer to checking a route out on rappel.

Can anyone explain why Burchey got so quickly deleted?  Is he just never allowed on the prodge again, ever?

Why risk it?

You have to stamp Burchey out in his larval stage. After molting he can fight an entire room full of keyboard warriors with one hand tied behind his back.
