Beyond the right coast. I guess you could say that it’s beyond the left coast, but going that way would be farther. |

Going obscure again, though not as oddball as my previous submission. This one may be too obscure ( though maybe not). I'll give it a day to see if anyone gets it. |

OK, too obscure---not even any guesses. Sorry. Not even the most obscure guide I own!!! Anyway, it is for a small but interesting area called Moss Island in Little Falls, NY. It is located along ( mostly in the middle of) the Mohawk River/Erie Canal in central NY. In general the very large area in the central/western part of the state is flat or gently rolling--more Midwest than the Northeast. What rock is exposed is overwhelmingly 'poor quality' sedimentaries, much too loose for climbing, except for this small 'island' of resistant metamorphic rock offering short ( mostly top-roping) but challenging climbing, in an unusual post-industrial location. I'll post up another offering shortly, hopefully not quite as obscure. |

Looks like rocklands to me. "South Africa Rock"? If that's indeed what it is, I'm very curious. I've always wondered the extent of the route climbing (or potential thereof) - the highball boulders look amazing so an even longer version of the same climbing would be even better, presumably. |

Rainsford Rouner...ha ha. Those last two bring back some great memories... Edit to add...climbed Dropline and Welcome to the Machine on the same day around 20 years ago. Good times. |
