I soooo wanted to post this in partner search formum... My partner dropped one of my ice tools and we had to sacrifice it to the mountain gods....maybe it will melt out in the spring :( I am therefore looking for an older generation Quark. Hammer/adze/pick condition doesn't matter. Getting the generation right is important. Looking for the generation with a simple shaft (hot hydroformed shape) and with a fixed/removable pinky rest (not the flip down version). Will pay a like-new price for the right tool. I will even consider a pair. Make me an offer I should refuse but probably won't. Here's my lonely ice axe looking for a mate. |

Hey I received a message from Bruno stating that he would have a freight shipment company in Florida ship my axe to him in europe. Not calling him out at all. Just looking for advice from more experienced online sellers. Is this a red flag? I’ve only sold a few items online and all within the us. Again not making any accusations, just trying to bridge the gap in experience I have with online selling. Thanks. |

Jake wanderwrote: I sold my quark to him and was payed. It seemed weird to me as-well but I looked into the company and it seemed legit. Edit: thanks for explaining Bruno! |

Hey Folks, Yes, I bought Finn's axe (thanks Finn, I was just notified that it arrived in Florida). But, seeing as my partner dropped one, and I really like that model year (hate the new flip down trigger) I thought that, if the price was right, I might buy Jake's too, just to have a reserve. Plus, I'm still hoping to find the original when the snow melts, so then I'll have two pairs. And the right number of axes is always N + 1. I'm from the US (New York, California, Wyoming) but I've lived in Europe for about 20 years (Spain, Switzerland). MYUS is a great freight-forwarding company. Beleive it or not, considering the insane prices here in Switzerland, it's often cheaper for me to buy in the US and ship here. And with some things like shoes (I wear size 48) they just don't stock them here in Switzerland. Of course, there are people with big feet here, but not enough to justify the stock cost. Isn't that crazy? Anyway, Jake, no problem, I appreciate your hesitancy, and I'm cautious too. If you're interested, make me a solid offer. If I buy I'll Paypal you, no friends or family, and you can wait till you get the money before shipping. No rush. And last, there is more to this story...but it will have to wait a few weeks/months to post the happy ending. It involves another single Quark coming to me from somebody in the UK, to be sent to the US, and reunited with a soul mate. I know, I'm crazy, but this is what makes the internet fun :) |
