Bare-footed climbing

I'm curious what people think of bare-foot climbing. I want to hear any opinions people have about any aspect of it. |

Lots of hard climbers have done it and done it well. |

I always climb barefoot when I forget my shoes. |

I did a season in Potrero where I made a rule that anything under [grade] had to be climbed without climbing shoes or approach shoes. Most of those pitches I went barefoot to get the benefit of toeing in on the pockets. I'd like to think I got stronger feet out of it; at the very least, it would give me confidence if I ever dropped shoes on a multipitch.
I've done a bit of barefoot jamming. In perfect hands like the Creek route below, it's pretty chill. |

I don't like going barefoot in my house. |

I definitely enjoy a little bit of barefoot climbing. I like the way you can curl your toes around jugs. |

It helps a ton to go barefoot all the time first to get those pads built up, its painful without leathery feet IMO |
