Not My… you are dead wrong my friend, I live 8 miles from the City of Angels. Holidays can be and are an issue to be sure. But personally I find San Diego to be far worse driving wise. I feel for my SD brothers and sisters when I head south and see the sign- by Mammoth. San Diego 405 miles.
So keep spewing BS if it makes ya feel good.

You hit traffic from Temecula to Murrieta, and then again in the Riverside clusterfuck, and then once more before getting on the 215. This is all much shorter if you live in Riverside, but then you also have to live in Riverside.

Guy stop with your hallucinations . All 3 mega Metro areas in Cal have long gridlock rush hours. Monday to Friday  5-10 am and 2-8 pm.  Leaving Friday and getting back Sunday is a multi hour ordeal. Need to take off from work Friday  and Monday. You’ve wrong and your cheerleading encouraging more people to jam the roads is non sensical. Unless you’re a real estate agent. Living in LA is horrible unless a work from home multi millionaire , retired or unemployed and you like being homeless. Which one are you? Again, being in the heart of LA CITY is worse then the suburbs. The suburbs are still bad.

None of the above. Are you saying that John Long isn't a climber? He's worked as a teacher in LA for many years (in addition to writing) and lives within a couple miles of me.

In 2023 I listed and sold properties from Hollywood ( corner of Santa Monica Blvd and El Centro ) to Santa Barbara ( just below San Marcos Pass )

This whole time I could have been hangin in a dive bar slingin Pabst Blue Ribbons instead of climbing on sunny rocks. Where did it all go wrong ????

That would be a low point for sure although I lived in Madison for 6 years and it was a wonderful place to be. We marched to the state house when Gov. Walker was going after the teachers union. Protecting state funds from corrupt greedy teachers probably seemed like a good idea at the time, especially since they have so little free time to fight back (you know .... from teaching our kids and all ... ) however he was voted out of office.... Good riddance!

Rode my bicycle to Devils Lake all the time, never climbed once! It’s just not as much in the popular culture back home! What do you guys think would take longer, driving to Idy thru LA ( maybe 8-10 hrs I’d say, 14 hrs if there’s traffic ) or catching a quick flight back to the motherland ? 

Another reason- the best sport climbing in the LA area will never reopen. Williamson rock.
If you’re retired like Guy, or live an hour from LA, like Guy, or can climb weekdays like Guy, or are wealthy and live west of 405 like Andy, live in so cal or the Bay Area. If not and you’re climbing weeknights and weekends, it’s two to 4 hours each direction including hiking to climb. Took an hour to find a place to park at point Dume Malibu LA. It’s an hour in line to get in j tree . It’s a 1-2 hour hike to the climbing after parking in Idyllwild. So cal includes 6 counties. Bay Area is giant. Move to Fresno.

John climbs in the west LA climbing gym. He works part time from home and is mostly retired. Climbing weekdays is OK as long as you don’t drive 5-10 am or 2-8 pm. Night climbing with headlamps is doable.
