Can we ban horses at Jackson Falls SoIll?!
|
Okay, I can’t be the only one thinking this, but these freaking horses seem to be absolutely ruining trails and leaving giant horse bombs all over the place. My friends dog got off his leash and got kicked by a horse a couple months ago. The people riding them didn’t even say anything or think twice they just kept going. For a place that is maintained by climbers for climbers, when will these horse people stop taking advantage of the climbing community?! It would be one thing if there were separate horse trails, but it seems everywhere I go the trails are absolutely nuked. Curious to know what other people think. |

Careful. Whenever climbers come into conflict with another user group, it is usually the climbers that end up banned. |

The horse riders were there first. Plus they spent way too much money on that horse elevator to get the horses down into the canyon. |

I have to share a trail and often the base of climbs with dogs, I think sharing trails with horses is A-OK. |

Jackson Falls is USFS land and is not climber owned, so I'm not sure where the "maintained by climbers for climbers" comment comes from. I don't really like horses or their shit on trails but we are a niche user group and we don't need to pick fights with other niche user groups on public land. |

Horses are like boats; the ancillary costs will kill you. It is not a pastime for poor people like the denizens of MP. Room and board is easily $500/month. Don't forget the many, many hundreds and thousands in vet bills, farriers, etc. Any you'll need a minimum of a 3/4 ton truck to haul them around in a $5000 horse trailer. |
