True, but if it is comfortable to descend in your climbing shoes, you may as well climb in tight approach shoes. Wish adid-ass hadn’t axed the Guide Tennies.

Boreal Fire Classics, Sportiva Mariacher, Scarpa Superatz - all of these climbed way better than any approach shoe or mountain boots I’ve ever worn.

In common they have flat sole, board last, double material uppers, full rand, lace-to-toe, above ankle bone, and not so narrow width in the toe.

I wouldn’t want to wear Five Tennies / Sportiva Boulders, Guide Tennies, Trangos or Supersofts to climb Mr. Natural or Spook Book, CW Hicks direct or Bladerunner (Paradise Forks). But I did when I also had Mythos because I didn’t want to carry shoes.

I’ve never been a strong climber. But comfortable, supportive shoes do work really well.

Fair enough, crack in comfy loose shoes is nice. Bet you could do Mr, Natural comfortably in Tennies though

These don’t suck. Durability report in the next 2-3 months.

I ended up getting Evolv's The General and they get 5 stars from me hands down. Maybe better than TC Pros and much cheaper. I will say though, they run small so if you order online get them at least a full size bigger than your normal climbing shoes.

acopa jb shoes for the win. more then enough so to get .12 done

What's the likelihood wearing the JBs one would move up 3 full grades to get .12 done?

Been really liking my 5.10 G-stones on sandstone. Comfier & softer than my TC's.

Nice, those just look like the old TC Pros! (which is a good thing)

Are you talking about the Grandstones that were discontinued three years ago, or the ones discontinued 20 years ago?

For a shoe that you can currently purchase, I think the BD Aspect Pro is the TC Pro killer (but that is a fallacy, the cult of the TC Pro is way too entrenched for any shoe to kill it).

Grandstones have been my favorite shoe since the first iteration came out years ago and still have several pair in great shape.  When the new style came out I found I liked them even better, more comfort, more precision.  I sized them to my street shoe size and find they are very snug and work great. For longer days in the mountains I went up a half size over my street shoe and they have quickly become my daily shoe no matter what I am climbing, hands down my favorite shoe.  Like all shoes from Five Ten that I like they eventually discontinue them and it leaves me scrambling on Ebay looking for new old stock.   I occasionally look on Ebay for some of my old favorites like the Grandstone, Blanco and the old style Guide Tennie and have had good luck finding new still in box shoes.  I have 6 pair of the old Guide Tennie, pre Adidas and just found another brand new pair still in the box last week.   If you like the Grandstone I recommend getting on Ebay every once in a while and snap them up when they show up.

Acopa JB!

I’ve spent about 15 hours inside these shoes and couldn’t be more happy with the comfort. Fit my feet perfectly. Sized up for all day comfort. Still feel confident on edging.
