For context I am a young winter climber currently in Scotland who climbs mainly vertical mixed or Ben Nevis face climbing I use (quite) old kit DMM terminator crampons and black diamond rage ice axes (with some little added moulded plastic triggers on the handle and shaft to make it similar in design to quarks/vipers)
My question is pretty age old, I've used technical tools before on dry walls and in mixed conditions on routes with features what my rages simply can't go for but am sick of borrowing from other fellas and just want a set of my own, what do I go for https://1921681254.mx/?
For reference I've used these tools so far BD reactors (pricey asf) PZL nomics DMM switch (grip was way too big even for medium gauntlets)
Currently have employee discount on grivel ice axes but haven't heard great things about the handles on the tech machines
Just wondering if you lot had any advice what would be a prime choice for the money?
Keep the Terminators;they are one of finest crampons ever made.
I'm going to get laughed at for saying this, but Scottish climbing is a little different, versatility is key, I'd recommend something simple, like DMM Super Flys or the Apex
Buy Nomics or X-Dreams. A crampon upgrade is not as important as an axe upgrade. Nomics sound like they'd be perfect for you but if you find that you prefer the feel of the X-Dreams, they're right there with Nomics.
