Is it time to replace this grigri?

As the title states, is the gap between the plates a reason to replace? The cam engages just fine, its just this outer plate that scares me a bit. The gap between the plates is nowhere near wide enough for the rope to slip through, and I don't think in the event of a fall the grigri even really loads that side plate, but I am slightly worried that it could somehow load it and blow the side plate off, thereby freeing the rope.

Its fine.

Its old, so you may want to sell it to someone who does a lot of work on fatter static ropes.

That’s just looks like a normal Grigri.

Not mine, and it’s got sentimental value so once it is too worn to use it’s going on a wall somewhere.

its 20+ years old I believe   although for a fair amount of its life it was not used heavily.
