Heyo!

I know it's not strictly climbing focused, but does anyone have ant recommendations on fingerless gloves that have a flap to convert into mittens? Bonus points if they're heated!

Everyone knows ants don't wear gloves.

I end up in the arctic ever now and again for work, and need to type.  I'll look up the Mammut and Montbell options!

I really like these Dachstein wool mittens with a flap.

Warm.  Durable.   I use them for hunting in the winter when I need a bare trigger finger.

If you are an XL, I have a pair that I'll send you for price of shipping.  I think they're CAMP.  They are new.

How can they add mittens to a glove? Pr cut fingertips off without damaging the heating wires?

Duluth has a few pairs, the warmest is here, but also look into construction "Framer Gloves" as they have three fingers free but keep the rest protected. Pair those with a warm loose gloves and that may do the trick. Just be sure to lanyard the outer pair so you can just pull them off and never drop/loose one. Good luck!

Framers gloves are an interesting idea! They'd definitely be better than typing with full gloves, but I think I'll still need each finger free as I do a lot of typing.

The Deluth manilla Cascade seems like a great option, I wonder if I can add heating after the fact?

Yes. Options:

Chemical heat packs are self explanatory.

Look into Diy 12v systems for hunters and snow mobile riders, or check out some of the hardcore motorcycle companies, like aerostich, as they may all have atv or battery powered options.

Almost any motorsports shop in Minnesota or the Dakotas may have a plethora of options too, but I doubt they will be high dexterity... Thus the fingerless gloves as a liner.

If you find the perfect pair of framers gloves and the last three fingers are deal breakers, you can always use a good scissors to solve your problem. That said .. perhaps you just start that way now, clipping fingers... As you would have plenty of real world data come winter.

Good luck, I remember that cold weather oh too well. :-)

Jake, I once obtained a pair of these and they're amazing. Obviously they seem a bit lightweight for the artic but I've walked up to EC wearing them in 18-20* weather and had to strip them off before scrambling up to the start b/c my hands were way too warm. Have worn them in a tent in single digits (obviously inside a sleeping bag) and was basically too hot, had to take them off. Might be worth exploring, I think they're freaking incredible.
