Anyone have any details on alleged climbing access closures in Finale Ligure? We should be in Finale next week, but I just saw a post from May 15th on Up-Climbing.com that there are multiple recent closures to climbing, and that climbers are being fined without notice or warning. The article is scant on details and I could find no other mention of this issue on other sites. .

This talks about the annual bird closures, and mentions the specific crags to be avoided. Are there additional issues? It wouldn't surprise me, been there a few different trips and the last time I was there the vanlifer contingent posting up everywhere near an access point (many on private property or just obnoxiously close to residences)  was quickly ruining the good name of climbers in general.

Rock store website mentions closures on its front page but the links don't work. If you don't find the info you're looking for online, your best bet is to stop there in finalborgo and ask at the shop (Italian language helps). Fulvio Balbi runs the place and will know.

Edit* Finale outdoor website mentions a few additional closures for maintenance.

Thanks. I was wondering if there also may be closures related to recent flooding.

I was a bit alarmed at the list of permanent closures in the link above, but they seem to be outlying areas at those popular crags.

Check https://www.finaleoutdoor.com/it/live/climbing for the list of routes that are open/closed. Also, this seems to be a complete route list for the entire region (pitch by pitch grade/style breakdowns too).

I was worried about Capo Noli and Pianarella (both listed to have permanent closures on the link above) but both areas have all their popular sectors/routes listed as open here.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
