Hey Everyone,

I am hoping to make my first trip to Spearfish this weekend, but Wunderground is showing a 58% chance of rain Friday-Monday.

I was wondering if anyone could give insight into whether or not that is typical summer weather and it will actually be climbable (kind of like those quick summer thunderstorms in CO) or if it will be a no go.

Thanks! Daniel

If it's afternoon rain sometimes you can still get 5-6 routes before the rain hits.

Pretty unpredictable during the month of June but it tends to settle down by July. Sometimes the storms will only hit upper canyon (shadowlands, Danks, Darkside) some times they only hit lower in the canyon around mohican. Sometimes they hit everything. Lots of the time it says thundies but is still climbable, sometimes it says thundies and you get hit with a hail and a tornado. This weekend was totally climable, didn't get rained at all Saturday upper canyon. Big storm brewed all day Sunday but didn't start raining til way later.

Stan - Thanks for the awesome beta! It is much appreciated. Glad you were able to get outside and enjoy some climbing this weekend!
