If the AI posts are at a level such that one can't tell the bots from humans, does it make a difference what is AI-generated or not? |

Maxwell Hvolbekwrote: Does one AI generated post make a difference? Probably not. But if there's enough of them, and people clue on to that, fewer people are going to spend time typing out answers to questions that humans are asking. I certainly know that I've been engaging less frequently and online discussions since I've started questioning the authenticity of the creator. Give it long enough and the whole internet is just going to be bots talking to bots. |

Good point, Mark S. Relevant and good for a chuckle: |

I'd rather engage in a conversation with a bot than tradiban or the other infecting trolls that have made this site mostly unpleasant. So far the bots haven't been racist, homophobic or misogynistic...just sayin |

Maxwell Hvolbekwrote: Hahaha thanks for the laugh. |

Maxwell Hvolbekwrote: Yes - if I theoretically wanted to trick the world into thinking gates out is better than gates in, I could spin up a bunch of instances of this AI and start having them spam their asinine opinions all over this forums in a believable way. Suddenly, everyone seems like they’re doing gates out, and other folks start doing it too because they figure there must be a reason for it if everyone is doing it. You’re basically able to seamlessly change the zeitgeist, even about something that has an objectively correct answer such as gates in vs out. |
