Travis, thank you for finally granting your blessing to climb in Red Rock, now that the weekend is practically over. It was sheer torture (waterboarding, perhaps?) getting you to see the light; I shouldn't have to spell things out to you like this, over and over. I have much better things to do than fighting for access to the crags like this - especially with the way you continually contradict yourself.
You should really post under your own account. Your antics, attempting a blanket shutdown of Red Rock climbing this weekend, arguably the warmest and driest of the year, have brought disgrace to our local climbing shop. It's a bad look. I care too much for the independent business owners to call for a boycott but you have crossed a line and sullied the shop's good name. I will say, I needed some approach shoes today, and I always prefer to buy local. Did I consider a visit and risk a sternly worded lecture? Absolutely not.
Desert Rock Sportswrote:In the other thread (Wet Rock as of 3/29 & 3/30/2023) you seem to say that climbing will be OK tomorrow and Sunday, which it pretty obviously wont be.
My take Friday that it obviously wouldn't be OK Sat/Sun was bad. Got more info shortly after and was giving advice in shop / phone / email that same day that the general consensus was that sunny, low elevation, well travelled routes would have a lot of dry stuff to climb Sat afternoon and Sunday. Shady stuff still questionable. Maybe some higher elevation stuff would be fine those days, and maybe some would still be pretty questionable. All just random consensus from various people coming through the shop, not based on firsthand observation, because obviously I was stuck in the shop... forgot to update on MP, sorry. Too focused/distracted on hostility pointed at guiding companies, Dan, me, RR crowding, science of wet sandstone, and surely several other topics...
Sorry if my bad take on conditions messed up anyone's plans.
I stand by everything I said regarding complexities of weather, and difficulties in giving one boiled down consensus on what is good and what isn't, science of wet sandstone, there's no conspiracy of guides to like stop crowding of crags, and whatever else, etc...
