You will be able to find shoes at various retailers, there is no issue with supply to the UK market. I imagine they are probably prioritising vendors instead of their own warehouse, because that is how you run a business.

"Supply chain" is just air cover.  They can't run the business.

That's kinda what I figured. I really wouldn't be surprised if they're actually being contested by 5.10 themselves. Some of those designs are near replicas.

My son sent shoes for resole.  Never heard back.  Pestered them via Instagram and got the social media person to work on his problem.  They sent the shoes back to him without resoling them!!  He paid for shipping both ways.  Classy!

They made you pay to ship your old shoes back? Wow, they need to fire whoever is in charge there.

You're wrong, just ask their #1 vendor Flowstone climbing gym, they get one or two shipments of shoes a year. It took over half a year to get a new stock of shoes and they are the most connected vendor they have.

You should go buy all the shoes you can afford, then resell them when they run out. Like they did with hand sanitizer and toilet paper during covid. You will make a fortune.

SoIll is about to sell out of shoes too. UP makes the rubber and shoes for them.

Do you know what is going on with the rubber market in Europe? Is it the war or the environmental regulation changes they made last year?

As someone that has really liked UP's rubber, this is pretty not great to hear. Hope they can get it sorted out.

Someone mentioned in the other Unparallel thread a few weeks ago that rubber was in a recent set of EU sanctions from a few months back so that could have something to do with the supply issues across the industry, although UP makes there rubber in the USA.

*THIS IS PURE SPECULATION* As far as SoILL goes it could be something else. 8 months ago UKC was saying that the guy running 5.10s shoe program left the company to go to SoILL, and considering all the SoIll models are deeply discounted and final sale right now, maybe they are trying to sell out everything they have before introducing a new range of shoes. I think if it was simply supply issues they would not have everything final sale like they do. (5.10 Info from the comments of this video) *SPECULATION OVER*

Idk what to tell you man, maybe they're not as big of a vendor as you think.

I don't know of a single store or gym in the uk that is out of Unparallel shoes, I can even buy directly from the UK distributor, dark ventures, no apparent stock issues.

To other person, I don't know what you are referring to regarding the rubber market, I have heard nothing about any resolers having any issues with getting rubber nor any wider rubber shortage, if prices are up its inflation+natural gas prices, if I remember correctly vibram mainly use natural gas for heat sources in production.

The person who mentioned this is in the other Unparallel thread is the same poster, “rock climbing“ (https://www.mountainproject.com/forum/message/123806848 ). I would like to see some evidence re. the “sanctions”, rather than unsubstantiated speculation.

I can confirm that Fred Nicole and others are designing new shoes for SoILL that are in production per Fred and the SoILL founder's instagram. They look pretty alright actually. Though I think they're going to use XS Grip and not UP's rubber. Also may have seen some paper designs of a trad/crack shoe in one of the Instagram stories.

in Europe carbon black used in the production of some rubbers comes predominantly from Ukraine, so yes the war maybe causing issues. Fwiw the price of cars tired has had a good percentage increase because of the war..

I sent a pair of shoes to UP for resole around the beginning of December, confirmed delivery with USPS but radio silence from UP. Reached out early February via their Contact Us page and asked for confirmation that they received the shoes and an ETA. I received a response within 24hrs saying that they received my shoes and resoles were taking 2-3 months. Yesterday I got a notification that my credit card was charged. Idk if they bill on completion or when they are starting the resole but hopefully I get them back soon, so looking at 3.5-4 months for resole fulfillment.

Now, where to send the shoes that have gotten 100% of my mileage over those months and now need their own resole...

I saw a prior post that said Backcountry Cobblers in Lander, WY has UP rubber for re-soles.  My son is trying them with the shoes that UP sent back without resoling them...

Can anyone comment on which of the more aggressive/downturned shoes has a heel fit closest to the UpMocc? No other shoe has fit me as well as the UpMocc and I love them outside but they're not as well suited for gym/board climbing I think. Looking at the bottom up views on their site I'm thinking either the Vim or the TN Pro?

Hey Jordan, I can't answer your question but maybe I can hijack and ask you one. How's the sizing on the Upmoccs? My favorite shoes were the old (like 8 years ago) Moccasyms. I just got a new pair and have been trying to break them in and I just don't know that they're going to stretch like the old ones.

I wear a street size 11 and the moccs I bought are a 9.

I sized up a half size from 8.5 moccs to 9 and they fit exactly like old 5.10 Moccs. I usually wear 10.5 street

The Vim and TN pro both worked for me, their other shoes didn't.

Size 10 up mocc

Size 11 Vim - they are still hard to get on

Size 11 TN pro

I wear street shoe size 10.5 and sized down to 10 for the UpMoccs and am happy with that. They were a little uncomfortable in the toe box for me at first but stretched to a snug but not painful fit and the heel still fits like a glove. I have a pretty wide toe box and that's usually the limiting factor for shoes for me. If you have narrow toe box you can probably get away with down a full size.

The other UP shoe I have is the UpRise Pro and has a good but not amazing heel fit for me but I wish I went street size for that instead of down half size, it's still pretty uncomfortable and with the synthetic upper and amount of rubber I'm not optimistic it will stretch enough to hit that sweet spot.

So are you saying the heel fits are comparable to the UpMocc?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
