pitonsshop.com scam

I was doing some searches and came across pitonsshop.com

Prices are suspiciously good and high pop-up sales tactic. I did a google search and it looks like it is a very young site, owner is obfuscated, and it is registered in Brazil.

Thoughts? I'm pretty skeptical right now.

Edit: Definitely a scam

Well, it is registered in China, but they list business address in Iowa. Google street view shows a red pickup truck parked in front of single family suburbia unit.

ah ha!

I was just looking at https://www.climbingshoessale.com/ which seems to be almost identical.

Don't go to that link in the previous message unless you really, really want to--it triggered a virus warning on my computer. (a trojan)

I was just about to make a post about this site, the sales look too good to be true, so it probably is. Every shoe on the site is (supposedly) 50% off or more, every size of every shoe in stock, etc. Scammy!

This seems to be a thing lately (last year or so?)

Fake online stores. Every single google product search seems to come up with them these days. First clue is often the extremely specific ’shop’ name, just like this example.

Its to the point where I don’t even bother looking at any unknown store with such a specific name.

I don't get why people still ask about these sites. Sales look too good to be true, every item on the site is (supposedly) 50% off, every size of every shoe in stock, really weird address on the About page....

It's really not hard to figure out that these are scams.

And yet, people are likely still getting tricked. IMO it's good that we keep talking about these scams, in hopes that people will be better able to identify and avoid them in the future.

Hey. You can't save the world or the terminally confused.

I can certainly take 15 seconds out of my day to post about the goings on, though.

I like how they have emojis in the product names even in the cart and how you can log in to your account but there’s actually no way to sign up for that account

YOU should buy from there just to confirm. And let us know how it goes.  :)

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
