Mammut Sender Wire carabiner opinion

Hi all! I wonder if anyone had tried the Mammut Sender Wire carabiner? So far I can't find any good reviews online. Context: I planned to build my new alpines draws with Camp Photon and Mammut Contact sling (I don't want the nano 22, I rack my cams on them but I don't like them for draws). But I can see that Mammut offers an alpine draw with the Sender Wire carabiner and it's cheaper than the Camp home made combo. On paper it kind of make sense to use the Sender wire: gate opening is 25mm for 28g, making it a good option between the Nano 22 and the Photon. It would be cheaper, lighter and decent size. Thanks! |

Looks like no one tried them?! ok new approach then: what is your take on Mammut Carabiners in general? |

I have alpine draws that I’ve made with both the sender and photon using the Mammut slings. I actually prefer the senders because they’re just the right size for my slightly above average sized hands they’re not as large as the photons overall, I’m very happy with the senders and they are exceptionally lightweight for my use cases |

Lots of people have them I’m sure. Just they’re not that exciting. I have a few - they’re fine - nice little medium sized multipurpose carabiners. Mammut carabiners in general - I like the sender series but the crag ones seemed to wear really quickly. |

Yeah I think the sender carabiners are perfectly adequate. I have the solid gate draws and they're definitely nice but nothing to write home about. |

I have found the Mammut sender wires to be awesome carabiners. I stumbled upon them by accident because I got a deal on them. I now have a full set of 12 alpine draws with these and rack my cams with them. They rack nicely because they have a thin profile and nose. They are what I would call medium size, still large enough to be useful for alpine and ice, even with my large hands and gloves on, but are a good compromise for weight savings too, at 28 grams, they aren’t as light as something like the nano 22, but they offer more functionality with the larger gate opening and still lighter than some of the larger wire gates that are around 30-34 grams. If you are trying to go light and add that across a full rack, you are saving the weight of maybe 5 wire gates or 3 lockers. |
