can I resole shoes if the leather is split?
|
I've had these shoes for about 4 years and they have definitely been wearing down for a while, but always looked fine until I looked at them after my last indoor session and noticed this massive gash that seems to go literally all the way through the leather. I swear it wasn't there before then, or was much less noticeable. Maybe it was on the verge of splitting for a while and finally broke all the way through, I'm not sure but I was hoping to get these shoes resoled soon and now I'm not sure if it's worth it or if they're too damaged. I'm very sorry if this kind of thing gets asked all the time, I can't seem to find much info online about this kind of damage to the actual leather of the toe. |

There are places that may be able to repair this (because it appears to be split, not worn through. Send a pic of the split to Rodeo Resoles and see what they can do about it. |

Something to consider even if they can resole it. You waited so long, that in addition to a new sole you need a new toe cap. Often a new toe cap will change the way a shoe fits, not always for the better. Next time get it done before the toe begins to wear. |

I have the same split on my TCs. I asked positive resoles about it and they said it's too far gone for resoling. Other places might fix it without a warranty. |

Fairly sure that's a factory cut to remove excess material when forming the toebox, my katanas have the same split. |
