Worst/Least used piece of gear you own

Years ago I bought one of those Metolius "Alpine Equalizer" things. Totally annoying, over-designed "solution" to a not very complicated problem. If anyone wants it, it's yours for the cost of shipping. 

Green alien. I dunno what it is about it, but I stopped racking it in favor of nuts and a blue totem. Then I bought another blue totem. Never felt happy climbing more than 5 feet above it.

In the last 25 years, most of my harnesses have been quick style. I’ve literally never had one creep. Usually I use petzl or wild country. I can’t remember them all, I do know that this isn’t something that happens.

Sure, a rack of draws doesn’t weigh much but got a triple rack to #4 the harness hits the ankles, nawmean?

I have three Kong cams I got for $20 (Similar sizes to a #1,2,3) Great for scrounging together extra pieces for the Creek, but otherwise…absolute trash. 

edelrid micro jul, the most jerky and useless tube style belay device. 

PAS. Used it twice, decided it was a waste of space and hung it in the gear closet. Finally gave it to a friend. 

Black totem that I bootied last year. I get dizzy just looking at all that webbing material. How can anyone in their right mind figure out where to clip this mess or even how to hang it on the harness? No wonder people are looking for harnesses with 7 gear loops if they're trying to rack these things.

Trango Splitter 4Cam. Got two of the small sizes as my first micro cams years ago. After I picked up C3s, I never used them again. The Splitter 4cam is no longer made, and for good reason.

I’ve placed it I think 4 times aiding, the little purple zero friend. Older model. It’s a good time but you could always use something else

I was just illustrating that I’m not opposed to carrying extra weight.

But yeah, I’d never carry a triple rack to 4 because it’s prepping for a scenario that doesn’t exist.

I’ve carried 5 number 4’s in a specific scenario, and probably little else.

A standard multi pitch rack is doubles to 2, a single 3, and anything larger only if you need it.

Carrying the whole store? Sounds like a n00b to me. Going hiking with it all clipped to you? What do you think? Using a mountain of gear without a gear sling, totally advanced there bro.

Feel free to play make believe about the scenario you’ll have all that gear, no gear sling, and no backpack.

Traddy, that’s an old school Petzl Jump. The best harness Petzl ever made. It went through so many wide cracks and chimneys that it got retired when the waist belt started looking like tat. It looks like it’s up around my waist just fine. Is it supposed to be in armpits?

That kind of looks like an old JRat harness, which would have a traditional buckle…so, even if there was sagging, it would defeat your argument.

I know, HAFE, and that pic looks like it is from the mid 90s, so an old JRat harness is likely.

Yea, I had a Jump for around 10 years and it was only retired when a concerned climber took it and cut it because it was so ratty.

I didn’t know what I was missing until I got a Big Gun with a trad buckle and my harness ceased to sag on my ass.
