Don't know if someone actually fixed this but the track has now appeared in the climbing map. Thanks

I pushed an update for this today. There is still another bug I'm working out but will hopefully have it resolved by end of week.

[Edit] Couple other updates

  • Fixed an issue where Gym map tiles were not loading correctly preventing the page from working
  • Currently working on resolving issue preventing maps from being updated with content. Hoping to have this done by EOW
  • Currently working on adding Search filtering and sorting

Thank you for testing Bill! I’ll try deleting the app and starting anew. I’m headed there tomorrow. Come on down!

UPDATE: Deleting the iPhone app and reinstalling did not solve my photo downloading error. The error persisted after I reinstalled the app and freshly downloaded the Arizona data. Downloading photos for an area is erroring every time.

Also, I found another bug… the update button for an area doesn’t go away after updating. The update will seemingly download/install but the “update” button persists and the red sync alert message doesn’t go away… see screenshot above

BUG: Flagging a forum post as spam redirects to a 404 page.

Testing will continue to be a lot of work as we started with a coverage of 0.

A not uncommon tactic with legacy code is to beef up tests before a major change / refactor.

I don’t know much about automating unit tests at the browser / UI, but keeping the display layer as thin as possible helps.  Then, all the complex stuff can be tested at the back end or in unit tests. Pays in dividends during future development.

I've made our iOS dev aware, they are looking into replicating the issue. It appears that it is only effecting iOS and we are looking into the why of that. Thanks for the report Anna, will keep you updated as we progress.

Hey all here are a couple updates for today.

  • Fixed a bug causing the MP app to not show the proper date for downloaded areas. Some users experienced seeing an update button that never went away. Apps heavily cache the package list request so, users may not see this update for up to a week. However, cache can be cleared by re-downloading the app or clearing the cache via settings. Areas will need to be re-downloaded but the issue should no longer be present. Some devices may cache more than others.
  • Fixed an issue preventing search from displaying certain routes on the AP Project apps primarily hiking project and MTB project..
  • I've got 2 pretty large tasks right now with search and the map tiling that are taking a little bit of time. Search is really close, last on the list are filtering and sorting. The map tiling is also close, but we are still testing to make sure it displays the map data correctly before we go live.

If you are experiencing a bug or outage please let me know. I'm reading your comments and addressing them as quick as I can. I also hear and respect them. I'll do my best to be an advocate where I can. Thanks again for all the feedback.

Seems to be a minor bug where the beta overlay doesn't show up in the photo thumbnails shown on route pages. Shows up when you click on the photo, just not on the thumbnail like it used to. Happens with any browser. Kind of annoying but not a huge issue I suppose

When you look at the map of your ticks/to-dos in the profile tab, newly added areas show up for some reason as well (see white & blue dots):

I hope you get a nice big raise out of this! You deserve it!

Just noticed this too.

Just wanted to let you know I've noticed a massive improvement for search.  It's actually really nice to have the crag name show up alongside the route name.  Previously, if there were two routes in the same region with the same name, you would have to guess which one and hope you clicked correctly.

Dwayne, first, thanks for all the work!

Will the leading at least get fixed? Not a fan of the ultra bold typeface (it buzzes a bit for me), but the line spacing is really annoying, especially in the route database.

Otoh, it will bump forums into the next page faster, lol! And the Over 50s into new threads, too.

Best, H

Feature requests for search results from forums. Apologies if these are dupes of earlier comments.

  • Sort results by date: cron and reverse cron
  • Show the date of each post on its search result. Suggested UI: smaller font on its own line between title and body.
  • Filter results down to specific forum(s)

My most common search use case is to check by name for gear I want in the For Sale forum. The posts move down fast in the forum view, and not everyone puts the keywords in the title. Search is often more reliable.

In the longer run, selling and buying seems like a user activity that is ripe for more specific product development.

Will there be a return of the feature to search by comments? This is missing since the update and was really useful.

A quick update for you all:

  • We added a spam blocker to forum messages to help thwart spam, especially the CBD gummie spam! This update has been very positive so far and is currently only strict spam checking new users. New users were the primary source of this spam. Our admins will be notified when spam is blocked so we can proactively disable these accounts. [Edit] It might not catch all the spam, but I think this is a good start to lowering the amount of spam.
  • We improved the photo upload flow to include the Rotation interface and the Beta Creator in the creation process.
  • Also, stoked to announce that we added search sorting! We still have a lot to do here but hope that the initial sorting will be a welcomed improvement. We are working on new features to make this more robust and allow for filtering as well. We will also be continuing to improve the UI for search

Happy New Years!

Is it possible the site update changed urls for a climb’s detail page? This page links to the El Cautivo climb on Mountain Project but the link is throwing a 404.

https://www.lamountaineers.org/oldtrips/244.html

The URL used for the link is:

http://www.mountainproject.com/v/arizona/cochise_stronghold/outoftowners_dome/106085543

It looks like the correct URL is:

https://www.mountainproject.com/route/106646827/el-cautivo

ALSO, feature request… can you add a “view in browser” link to a climb’s detail page. Not all information is displayed in the app.

It looks like all pictures posted as comments on the 8th of December are not loading for some reason.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
