Tights were a recent topic of discussion in the Over 50s thread, with great bitd pics. So heck, why not get everyone in on it? Post 'em up!

Here's mine, from the Over 50 get together September 2020.

Best, Helen

This picture isn’t that old. 15 years or so. While driving back to the campground the day of this photo we ran into a friend and were chatting (I was wearing my normal clothes by then). We showed him the photos on the laptop because memory cards used to need to be downloaded and then erased for the next day. He saw a few and was stoked on the classic shots, then he saw this one with my face visible and then realized these were from that day, not the 80’s. He turns to me and says “what the fuck?”

Feels like yesterday except I had hair, abs, could climb hard, nothing hurt, I barely worked, and I didn’t have kids.

There were those dark ages before tights. Original Grammici's with the classic lightening bolt pattern. And there was a time when shoes were green...

Shiny polyester red is rad...  So is having a hot belayer. The latter always made me a better climber   .

Used have a loverly slate grey and lilac pair that I lived in back in the mid 90s, probably a good thing I can’t find a photo!

Other than the look I really like(d) climbing in tights - the freedom of movement was nice.

I’ll take “things Kevin Murray’s mom says” for 200.

If you looked at my opening pic, you would grasp that your opinion is....your opinion. And it's far more fun to not give a shit what other people's opinions are on anything!

I also notice you have not actually disavowed the wearing of said garments now or in the past, hmmmmm???

The only time I ever look even vaguely badass is ice climbing. But everyone looks badass with ice picks and crampons and enough clothes there's no knowing what you actually have going.

I do think the house slippers are extra style points, though. They didn't climb for shit, mostly because my feet slid right out.

Best, Helen

Nope never wore them, don'.t like the tightness on my legs. And in response to high farts comment , well she turned 100 in august and she can say whatever the hell she wants and I just listen and nod.
