Informal poll, does your gym allow you to bring your dog in?

I had to beat some mutt off my lunch the other day, kind of surprised dogs were allowed in the gym.

What were you doing with food in the gym?

I'll take a stab at answering this - he was going to eat the food?

My gym allows dogs, but they've (almost) always been well behaved and adored. Only once have they pissed on the pads.

Personally I think a person should be tested before being allowed to own a dog, but that is an unpopular opinion.

Yes. I bring mine since the gym allows it. Some people don’t like it but I’m an existentialist so it doesn’t matter.

yes, though I don't bring mine

One of the local gym allows dogs. Very few people bring them, fortunately, the gym is a complete zoo at busy times, even without dogs. But most of the dogs that I had come across on occasional visit to that gym had been well-behaved.

An old no-longer-open gym in town used to allow dogs. Then people abused the privilege, and the dogs were no longer allowed.

And my gym doesn’t allow dogs... But there is one local cat named Steve, he is s allowed. Steve is not a stray, he has a human (not in any way associated with the gym) who shelters him, an a collar with a name tag to prove it. But Steve is an independent kitty, and he loves to visit the gym. He very primly sits near the front desk, greets all comers in a friendly manner, and generally doesn’t set foot on the mats, because he knows proper bouldering etiquette. He would never stoop to sniffing at someone’s lunch.

Unless it's a service dog, it doesn't belong. . .

Gym dogs rock. So do crag dogs.

I know where this thread is going...’wha, wha, wha leave your dog at home, dog at my lunch, dog ate my boyfriend, dog dug a hole, dogs are my fav but not anywhere I am climbing.

That random dog at the gym or crag is a better person than every stranger anywhere near that dog.

If a dog eats your lunch it’s your fault for being worthless.  Sorry. Truth hurts sometimes.

Dogs are like sport climbers, you have to establish boundaries.

More importantly, what was “trad” e ban doing in a gym.  It seems like an oxymoron

Gymiban doesn’t sound very good.

Proper food storage is always a must. Whether storing it away from a gym/crag dog or a bear. Reevaluate your method!

Just another excellent reason not to go to an ascending gym.

Wow, that last paragraph really solidifies your assholery. Well done on making dog owners look even less considerate than they already seem to be.

Dogs are like small children.  They're adorable, all over the place, too friendly for some folks and they absolutely belong everywhere.  Also, watch your chicken nuggets when they're around.

Factories? Strip clubs? Bars? Clubs?  Dispensaries? Fighting in wars? Living on the street? Working in fields? Producing your t-shirts and shoes? What a silly thing to say...

Like, you can’t wear your climbing shoes in the bathroom (not that I would but that’s a rule at the gym) but you can bring your dog?? Yuck.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
