Title says it all… I think. Anyone got any Route recommendations that are similar to East Ridge of Mt Bancroft? I did this many years ago and thought it was a pretty cool winter route. Looking to train some folks on wintery ridges….preferably ones not too wallowy….

Not too wallowy is a tough ask. Off the top of my head and first hand, perhaps:

-Drift to Fletcher

-Keyhole ridge

-Citadel to Pettingel

-Democrat N Ridge (slight step up from Kelso but on par with Bancroft minus the notch)

-Helen Father Dyer

I spent 20 minutes trying to remember which route it was, and now that you posted it I remember it was Drift to Fletcher. Was very similar in difficulty, maybe a touch easier. Mostly ridge hiking with a notch just like bancroft. Citadel was a little tougher IIRC. Keyhole ridge is quite the step up in winter.

As I'm sure Ryan knows, Derek Wolfe's books on the high peaks are SO good. Second to none. Just throwing in my favorite books for scoping out this type of stuff.

Thanks to you both, those are great suggestions. Hadn’t thought of them

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
