Who are LGBTQIA role models for you? |

Lor Sabourin. Absolute trad crusher who is also very active in the coaching community. |

Jordan Cannon's coming-out story: https://www.outsideonline.com/culture/essays-culture/professional-climber-jordan-cannon-comes-out-gay/ Totally awesome dude, freed Golden Gate, co-star with Mark Hudon in Free as Can Be. This is an awesome topic, thanks for starting the thread. |

Madaleine Sorkin: Total trad bad ass, crushes super hard/scary stuff; and also co-founded (I think) the Climbing Grief Fund with her partner. https://mojagear.com/exploring-big-wall-paradise-wadi-rum-madaleine-sorkin/ |

I don't know about role models but one of the best interviews (whatever the theme) I've ever listened to was Niall Grimes' piece on Jamcrack Podcast with Taylor Parsons (was Chris Webb-Parsons). http://www.niallgrimes.com/jam-crack-climbing-podcast/2021/29/jcpc-106-taylor-parsons |

Pete Nelsonwrote: I listened to that. Heavy, heavy interview, what a life! Happy that Taylor is alive, doing better and even doing some coaching in Sydney. Another incredible Niall Grimes interview with a queer Australian, was with climber and photographer Glen Robbins. Walking down the main street of Horsham (a very rural, conservative country town) in the 80s in full leather bondage gear, very brave. Also hilarious he made way more money selling topless photos of male climbers to gay magazines than to climbing magazines! http://www.niallgrimes.com/jam-crack-climbing-podcast/jcpc-016-glenn-robbins |

Jordan Cannon. It was a real struggle for him to come out but when he did he fully embraced it. I’m very proud of him. We gave a presentation about it HERE. It’s quite the story IMHO. |

djkyote wrote: Actually, it does. You see, drag queens are predominantly gay men who dress up for entertainment. It's supposed to be fun. Pattie Gonia is a gay man, a drag queen and an environmentalist who advocates for inclusivity and diversity in outdoor activities. When someone of Alex's fame and following does a silly drag video with the lesser known LGBTQIA+ advocate, it makes him an ally. If you are a member of the LGBTQIA+ community then you know how much we appreciate our allies. Plus, Alex is smokin' hot and he had his shirt off. If you don't have anything positive and uplifting to say, STFU! |

Guys, I'm totally straight, I swear. But I like seeing the interviews with Jesse Grupper from IFSC. He's infectiously excited and happy every time he comes off the wall. |
