fell while in a finger jam .

I fell while in a finger jam and ever since my finger has been bugging me. It only hurts while in the same torque position in a finger lock. Pretty sure it's not broken because I tried putting an ultrasonic thing on it. Does anyone know what kinda injury this is ? |

Go to the doctor |

You'll need imaging to properly diagnose that. It sounds like you injured some of the soft tissue in your hand; it could be tendon, fascia, ligament or some other tissue in the joint. You'll at least want to stop climbing on it until the pain subsides and do some recovery training, and if there's any laxity or misalignment in your hand I'd check in with an orthopedist |

Makes an appointment with his primary care doctor, who is available in about 3 weeks. Finds a way to come in at the soonest available time, only a couple weeks out. Gets to the doctor and is totally healed up and can’t remember exactly which finger he hurt. Has to bring up the proj at the doctors office to prove to him that he did in fact hurt his finger a while ago.
If it’s not broken and you have full range of motion even with pain, there isn’t a lot the doc can do for you. If it’s broken and displaced, go to the ER or urgent care. If it turns into a chronic pain thing and just doesn’t work well, make an appointment at your leisure and they’ll evaluate it. I think the people here who say to go to a doctor for every little thing are part of the reason why it takes so long to get seen for anything non emergent. Insurance companies rules being the other reason. |

You could find a climbing PT who could probably get you in sooner rather than later, and who would understand how to rehab your finger faster and with lower chance of long-term issues. If you were in Boulder I could send you to the right people, but in Durham idk. :( |

I've had a similar injury...and remember it just took ages to heal like about a year. Just had to avoid finger cracks. So don't fret I think it just needs time and maybe focus on sport climbing for now |

Thank you all for the advice. I have full range of motion which is great. I think I may have torn or done something to the middle joint side tendon. Not sure how I can tape to help take pressure off. Tried climbing yesterday and it defiantly got swollen which is a first for me. I think the weirdest part is that I fell on it at least a month ago and it’s only really starting to hurt now. |
