The year is 4500, and archeologists uncover a single bolted line. What are the assumptions they make about humans of our era?

Hopefully it’s Snake Dike after it gets retro bolted.

That way our descendants can see how enlightened we became, caring about safety and equality of outcome for all instead of egotistical trappings like mental fortitude, technical and physical ability, and actually rising to meet challenges.

They’ll unearth Archangel and China Doll only to mutter “looks like it could’ve gone on gear” and scribble ‘Boulderites = chuffers??’ in their digital journals

Or Double Cross, the real reason for WW5

Interesting artifact found on a cliff near an obvious settlement site.  Bolts embedded into the wall, attaching either a metal loop , hooks or chains to the cliff face at varying heights above the ground.    From the chains and hooks, it appears some sort of rope or cable was pulled through it repeatedly.  Given the signs of bear activity, it could be how local populations stored their food.  Other artifacts suggest that individuals may have used a rope to rest above ground level, perhaps to avoid predation or competition from local tribes.  Another theory is this is how local populations avoided floods induced by climate change.

I have always wondered this.

But, that assumes we last that long as a species.

"Why they climbed up the sheer vertical face when walking around was clearly easier and safer...we may never know"

I also wonder the same about if aliens ever find humans climbing rocks....no signs of intelligence here, they took a dangerous route straight up when they could have walked around the back...

They don't make any assumptions; they correctly dismiss it as unimportant and uninteresting.

History Channel at 2am: "Anthropologists found interesting traces of a strange religious ceremony. Bolts placed in the rock faces extended upward 1-2 meters at a time for the height of the cliff.  What appears to be fossilized avian droppings on the rock distinguishes this religious practice as some form of cliff raptor worship. Experts believe that around the summer solstice, the cliffs were closed down and the bolts used to offer various sacrifices to the nesting raptors. Another leading theory: Aliens"

Many would argue double cross is the truest A5. To quote Chris kalous, here's the bodies. We have the proof.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
