Hello, I am getting into outdoor bouldering and was wondering what the best options for bouldering crash pads are. I was looking into organic climbing co and the madrock duo. Any advice or requests would be great! Thanks :)

Mad Rock Triple Threat is affordable and has enormous coverage. Good if you like to boulder solo outdoors.

Organic Big 5”, simple pad, and blubber pad. Great coverage, versatile, enough foam for solo missions and highballs, longevity and build quality, made in the USA. Worth the price.

Can add the load flap strap, but this combo can be lashed together on its own.  The load flap strap makes carrying the blubber on either pad if not needing the whole set up.

If mostly going out in a group. Simple pad, or Full pad/ half pad combo w/ blubber is great as well.

Organic pads are highly customizable, or they offer ready to ship options as well.

I can’t overstate how well these pads hold up over the years with heavy use.

The Ocun Incubator is actually pretty dope. Otherwise, go organic or whatever you can find a pro deal on.

This is exactly the setup I use. It is fantastic and allows you to do a lot.

If just buying one pad to start, get the Organic Big Pad. It's enough pad that you can do many problems comfortably with just this pad. You can then get the additional supplemental pads later.

A single smaller pad (like the Simple) isn't quite enough pad to do much on your own.

Try to find friends who have lots of pads

I can vouch for the incubator being a decent pad. It's a bit thin though and after it goes soft you can really notice that. Also strapping another pad onto the incubator is pretty difficult.

The mad rock triple pad or any similar triple fold design beats pretty much everything else as a primary pad. No organic pad is as big, but they cost double. The boxy design when folded also makes it easy to strap a smaller pad onto the back or just throw a small pad on top of the big one after you have got it on your back.

Afaik it's also worth mentioning that the duo is smaller than the triple in both directions, not just in length.

Edit: The old psychi trifold is basically identical to the mad rock triple. The new psychi version is however superior in that it has 3 layers of foam instead of two.

I say this in all these threads but.. get the upgraded straps from organic. They’re a dream if you’re carrying a two pads and gear.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
