Am I a climbing poser?

Seeing that we are of similar skill level, I don't think it matters that much.

No way, this is serious.

The way I see it what separates people who climb from climbers is what climbing means to them. Doesn’t matter how hard they climb or how often.

So to be clear I don't know or care what anyone's sufferfest is. That definition is your own.  Also no ill feelings to Trevor but that was a presumptuous response.

Whoa, personal puppy attack!  No gatekeeping here, 1- Everyone has a different sufferfest (just sleeping in a tent for me is enough) 2- Your post kinda reads like a shower argument you have with someone fictional. 3- All I'm saying in my experience that made me realize I really just like climbing is after a shit weekend I still wanted to do it a few days later knowing there will be more shit weekends while my buddy quit completely.

So to be clear I don't know or care what anyone's sufferfest is. That definition is your own.  Also no ill feelings to Trevor but that was a presumptuous response.

fair enough it was a bit presumptuous but would a more accurate description would be that if you are willing to fight for your goal you are a real climber? Seems fair, there are just a lot of neckbeards on here that say you need to climb 200 climbs at 5.x rated R to be a real climber.

How do you feel about TRS alone?

If you willingly go and do something just to get your ass handed to you, and can go full Michael Scott IE: "no doubt about it I'm ready to be hurt again" I'd say you're safe. It could be a goal, injury, first out door experience, whatever it is there's usually some time where you come to terms with do I even want to do that again?

Agreed there are a lot of gate keepers/malding neckbeards that try to put a definition on that.  Most of them are just seeking validation as they've tied their ego/identity to climbing.  Pretty good recipe to develop unnecessary hate.

Had a silent partner and used it enough to decide the extra gear management was a hassle.  It was good for a project, but I cashed it in with the bubble, no regrets.

Actually, your right. Let's go to war. You name a place I'll name a time. You raise your army I'll raise mine. Gates in vs Gates out.

Okay, it's settled, you are a Poser.

dang, harsh but funny

Get yourself some pads, if you do live in Thomasville, Asheboro is 30 miles or so.

You can get your fix and don't really need anyone else, it's great!

This is confusing.  Are you the person you're encouraging to climb?  Is it you?

September 5th?

I'm Walt, and I have been deemed a climbing poser.  I'm flogging myself as I post.  I promise to stop.  But I have no idea what sept 5th means. (Cherokee?)

There might be hope for you after all. Flogging is like OW.

I can't believe we're two pages in and nobody has actually answered the question.

Am I a climbing poser?

Yes.

Yep, most definitely

which reminds me, I need to send them off to be resoled.

Do you by chance need the number to rock and resole?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
