I'm a "local" and have been watching this for 7 years from a highliner/climber perspective and as a developer/re-bolter in both, public lands recreation advocate,  LNT enthusiast, mega bolt nerd, and concerned user. 

The most accurate and constructive comments are, as usual, those from Max T. Read those twice and gloss over the rest.

Folks, for what it's worth, if you don't like the petition – just don't sign it or offer alternative non-violent non-escalative solutions. All the petty trolling and excessive angst just dilutes the helpful folks that are looking for constructive solutions. Yes, I know "this is MP".

Unless he is walking or biking across the country, it seems there is a simple solution here

If you looked and didn't sign you are complicit with Shawn's actions. It only takes a second to sign the petition.

Thanks for starting the petition. I signed it. It may do nothing but doesn't hurt. If this is presented to the next official that deals with him it will help them see it is not an isolated incident. This is repetitive destructive behavior that many people find out of line.

It seems like many are looking for a solution somewhere between "meaningless internet petition" and "slash his tires". Perhaps a GoFundMe-style fundraiser for Central Oregon climbers/High Desert Climbers Alliance would provide a way for the climbing community to support those affected by Shawn's rampages?
