Vesper/Glacier Peak area current conditions

Was looking at camping and climbing for a few days at Vesper and Morningstar at the end of June and wanted to see if anyone has been up there recently and has info on road and sunrise mine trail conditions as well as how the approach ledge at the base of Vesper was? Thanks! |

Clayton Crowhurstwrote: Not the most helpful comment, but that area holds a lot of snow on normal years. Generally July is when things tend to open up out there as far as snow levels and dryness. This is a large snow pack year, and there is going to be quite a bit of it up there for awhile. Don’t be surprised if you are waiting another month for the conditions to ripen a bit. |

Tyler Stockdalewrote: Thanks Tyler for the tip. I've been up there around July 4th a few years ago and it was perfect with good consolidated snow covering up some of the scree/rock fields to make the approach easier but the routes were clear and dry. This year could be the outlier though. |

I went with Rad in May of 2020 and if you can navigate snow, I would imagine many of them could be climbed. That said he was half way done with beyond redlinning but the whole first pitch was burried in an avalanche still. I would cross reference when people have ticked the routes you wanna do with historical snow data if you don't get a first hand report. |

There's a trip report from two days ago on the TAY facebook group of someone skiing Vesper. Said they could drive to the trailhead but started skinning at 3200 feet and the photos look super snowy: https://www.facebook.com/groups/18868349698?multi_permalinks=10159946759264699 |
